Bob Daines: Honoring Our Friend & Colleague

For 35 years, his calm and supportive presence was widely felt, and greatly appreciated, both throughout Wallick Communities and the affordable housing industry. Known for his crooked smile, zingy one-liners and habitual chocoholic-ness, "he" was Bob Daines, President of Wallick-Hendy Properties.

Leader. Partner. Colleague. Mentor. Friend. Regardless of the hat, Bob always wore it well. Following his passing last month from neuroendocrine cancer, his Wallick family celebrated his life with fond remembrances of "one of the truly good guys."

"Even when he became president," says Maintenance Director Wayne Driver, "nothing changed. It was about working together as a team for the residents and the company."

"Indeed," says Howard Wallick. "Bob was passionate about our work, more knowledgeable than anybody about the regulations that govern our work, and motivated by our mission to provide safe, quality housing," he says. "And though he was extremely devoted to his job, he was even more devoted to his wife, Cyndi. We will miss him greatly."
Feusse Announces New Roles

"Bob Daines' counsel and history with our company is invaluable," says CEO Tom Feusse. "While he can never be replaced, his legacy remains. And part of that legacy is ensuring a company structure that keeps us moving forward with a shared commitment to innovation, responsibility and caring."

With that in mind, Tom has appointed Bob's successors, Rowe Shockley and Joe Gulling.

Together, Rowe and Joe assume responsibility for Wallick's Property Management business unit. Rowe is now Senior Vice President, Affordable Housing and Joe is now Senior Vice President, Senior Living.

In addition, Sharon Shaffer has moved into the newly created position of Senior Vice President, Development, Senior Living. In her role, Sharon is responsible for the development of this new emerging business where we're delivering innovative assisted living and memory care communities to seniors of all income levels. With this appointment, we are also excited to have Amy Albery assume Sharon's former role as Senior Vice President, leading our Asset Management business unit.
